You can add dependents to your policy after signing up for your own policy. You can also get a quote and review the plan details before completing your purchase.
Which occupation should I select during sign-up?
You should select the option that best describes your situation when you arrive in France. The occupation question is used to verify your eligibility for expat insurance at sign-up. The available options are:
Have a job lined up: you have accepted a job offer in France but have not started yet.
Employed: you are currently working under an employment contract in France or elsewhere.
If the company you work for has an office in France and you have an employment contract from France, you are considered to be employed in France. If these conditions do not apply, you should select "No, elsewhere" to the follow-up question: "Are you employed in France?"
Self-employed: you work for yourself, including freelancers and independent contractors.
Student: you are enrolled in a course of study in France.
Retired: you are no longer working and are fully retired.
Unemployed: you are not currently working.
Other: none of the above options accurately describe your situation.
All situations other than being employed in France are eligible for expat insurance. If you are transitioning between statuses, select the option that most closely reflects your situation upon arrival in France, or select "Other" if none apply.
Do I need to declare pre-existing conditions when signing up?
There is nothing to declare about pre-existing conditions when signing up for expat insurance. If you later submit a claim, we will review the doctor's detailed reports related to that claim to check whether the condition existed before the policy start date, or whether the diagnosis implies a condition that would have been pre-existing.
