Coverage can be used for up to 5 years from your arrival in France, after which you need to switch to French public health insurance with a mutuelle, or move to a long-term expat plan. People who have lived in France for more than 5 years, people aged 75 and over, and professional athletes are not eligible.
Who is eligible for expat health insurance in France?

You've recently relocated to France and need health coverage before becoming eligible to join the French public healthcare system.
You're staying in France on a short-term basis as a visitor or part-time resident, and you don't plan to establish permanent residency.
You're a French citizen who has never lived in France, and you're staying in the country temporarily.
You've lived in France for less than 5 years, and you need proof of health coverage to renew your visa.
Who isn't eligible for expat health insurance in France?
Our expat health insurance is not available to the following groups:
People who have lived in France for more than 5 years.

How long can I use expat health insurance in France?
You can use our expat health insurance for up to 5 years from your arrival date in France. After 5 years, if you plan to continue living in France, you need to either switch to French public health insurance β typically combined with a mutuelle as private top-up coverage β or move to an extended plan for expats.
