When moving to France — whether for work, study, or a longer stay — health insurance is a legal requirement for obtaining a visa. French authorities require all visa applicants to show proof of adequate health coverage, and that coverage must meet specific criteria depending on the visa type.

Our Expat health insurance is fully compliant with French visa requirements. It’s private and offers coverage within France, including emergency services, hospitalization, and the treatment of new illnesses and conditions. This ensures you're well-protected during your stay.

If you're wondering whether our insurance fits your visa needs, here are the most common visa types our clients apply for in France:

  • Visitor visa (Visa de long séjour - visiteur)

  • Talent Passport (Passeport Talent)

  • Investor or entrepreneur visa

  • Student & Au-pair visa

  • Spouse of French/EU citizen visa

  • Residence permit (Carte de séjour) and its renewal

Note: Always double-check the specific insurance requirements for your visa. In general, our Expat health insurance is accepted for short and long stays, especially for initial visa applications and residence permits valid for less than five years.

Where to check visa and insurance requirements for France:

  • French consulate or embassy in your country:
Visit their official website to find the latest information about the health insurance requirements for your specific visa type. You can also contact them directly to confirm details.

  • France's official visa website – France-Visas:
This platform provides comprehensive and updated guidelines on visa types and the documents required, including health insurance.

  • French Ministry of the Interior (Ministère de l’Intérieur):
Find in-depth information regarding immigration, residence permits, and legal requirements for staying in France.

  • Immigration lawyers or visa consultants:
For complex cases or extra clarity, consulting a legal expert is highly recommended.

It's always a good idea to verify your visa's health insurance requirements with official sources to ensure compliance and avoid delays.
