You can request account deletion from your account settings, but only if you have no active policies. After submission, our team reviews the request and confirms by email. In some cases, we're legally required to retain certain data — such as for insurance reporting, legal claims, or post-contractual obligations — until the required retention period expires.
How do I request to delete my Feather account?
You can request account deletion by following these steps:
Log into your Feather account.
Go to your Account page.
Open Account settings.
Select the option to delete your account.
Confirm your account deletion request.
After submitting, you'll receive an email confirming that your request has been received.
Why can't I submit an account deletion request?
You may be unable to submit an account deletion request if you still have active policies on your Feather account. To proceed with deletion, you first need to cancel any active policies. Once all policies are canceled, you can submit your deletion request.
How does Feather process my account deletion request?
After you submit your account deletion request, you'll receive a confirmation email. Our team then reviews the request before taking the necessary steps to delete your account and associated data. If we have any questions about your request, we'll contact you by email.
Why might Feather need to retain my data after I request deletion?
In some cases, we're legally required to retain certain data even after you request account deletion. The main reasons include:
Compliance with legal requirements (Art. 17(1)(a) GDPR) — we must keep certain data to meet legal obligations such as insurance reporting, financial record-keeping, and regulatory requirements.
Legal protection (Art. 17(3)(e) GDPR) — we may need to retain data in case it's required to establish, exercise, or defend against potential legal claims.
Post-contractual obligations (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — even after a policy is canceled, you may still be able to make a claim that falls within the original coverage period, and we're required by the insurance contract to process your details to handle that claim.
What happens to my data after the legal retention period ends?
Your data is securely retained only for as long as necessary to meet legal and contractual requirements. Once the required retention periods expire, we securely delete your data without sending further notification.
