Cancelling your mutuelle is possible in several situations: after the first year of your contract, at your renewal date, or earlier in certain special cases. French law sets the official rules, but with Feather, the process is simple and handled by email.
Standard cancellation after one year (résiliation infra-annuelle)
You can cancel your mutuelle at any time after the first year of coverage.
Your request can simply be sent by email.
Cancellation takes effect one month after your email is received.
Cancellation at contract renewal (résiliation à échéance)
You can also cancel at your contract’s renewal date.
To do this, send your cancellation request by email no later than two months before the renewal date, or before 31 October for yearly contracts.
If you miss the deadline, the standard cancellation after the first year applies.
Change of coverage
If you want to change your mutuelle coverage, you need to cancel your current contract and then sign up again with your new chosen coverage.
Special cases (early cancellation)
You can also cancel early if you provide proof within three months of these events:
Loss of French compulsory health insurance (for example, moving abroad or switching to new coverage)
Being granted Complémentaire Santé Solidaire (CSS)
Joining a compulsory group insurance plan through your employer
Major life changes (death, divorce, marriage, PACS, etc.)
Retirement or permanent cessation of work
Moving outside France
Change of coverage: If you want to change your mutuelle coverage, you need to cancel your current contract and then sign up again with your new chosen coverage
In these situations, cancellation takes effect at the end of the month following receipt of your email and the required documents.
If you miss the three-month deadline, cancellation still applies but may be delayed, or revert to the standard cancellation rules
